Officially, the republic of the Gambia is a small West African Country that is completely surrounded by Senegal, apart from its Western boarder which is met by the Atlantic Ocean. The country consist of a relatively narrow strip of land along the river Gambia. Is about 11250kmsquare long and only a few kilometer wide. It has a beautiful coastline and both beach and water look very inviting. The people are warm and welcoming. It is therefore called the smiling coast of West Africa

However many people who live here, especially in the interior of the country, often have no work and hardly anything or nothing to eat. It is flat and dry and one of the poorest third world countries.
